Omaha, NE - One lucky Omaha Royals fan may go home with more than a good time after the Royals? last home game of the season on Thursday.
NP Dodge Company will give away $150,000 cash ? to be used toward a new house or other expenses ? if the final contestant of 36 finalists can hit a home run from home plate. The
NP Dodge Home Run Derby is part of the company?s 150th Anniversary Celebration.
Thirty-five finalists were selected randomly throughout the season and each had a chance to hit a home run, batting from behind second base. Seven of the finalists have hit a home run, winning a trip to Kansas City. One last person will be randomly chosen during Thursday night?s game to join the others. Fans can register to be the 36th finalist before the game at Rosenblatt Customer Service. Gates open at 6 p.m.
At the end of Thursday?s 7:05 game, the finalists will be entered in a drawing, and one will be chosen to try and hit a home run from home plate. If successful in hitting the ball over the fence, he or she will win the grand prize from NP Dodge.
Nate Dodge, president of NP Dodge Property Management, said the company has been celebrating its 150th anniversary all year by giving back to the community. ?This is a fun and lighthearted way to thank area residents for all of their support through the years,? he said. ?It?s going to be exciting to see if our final contestant can win the prize. We sincerely hope the contestant does; that would make our anniversary celebration truly memorable.?
